Speaking and Events

Are you looking for a speaker at an upcoming conference or professional development event?

Over the last 20 years, I have spoken in front of multiple audiences including women’s expos and conferences, post-secondary business management classes, municipal and provincial government senior-level staff events, high school classes, private college staff and student events, non-profit conferences, banking and financial planning professional events, as well as professional organizations for engineers, accountants and legal professionals.

Below, I have listed my areas of expertise that I have gained through education, professional experience and entrepreneurial growth.

If you don’t see a topic you’re interested in below, please feel free to email me (Jodi) at hello@worksmartcanada.ca

Business Strategy & Development

  • Learn how to become an entrepreneur (it’s not just another career path, it’s a lifestyle change)

  • Business start-up basics

  • Business planning and strategy development

  • How to set effective and impactful goals & accountable action taking

  • Capacity management and burnout

  • How to overcome imposter syndrome

  • Budgeting, financial projections and money management

  • Financial accountability and growth

  • Funding acquisition (including loans and grants)

  • Succession planning

  • Operations management (including business structures and working with municipal departments including licensing, zoning and building)

Leading with Influence

This is one of my most requested speaking topics because the leadership landscape is shifting.

More people are demanding better leaders but very few understand what being a leader means today.

This topic helps current and future leaders understand how their actions and words influence their staff, students, peers, bosses, and everyone in their circle.

It encourages current and future leaders to understand their role in a team, not alone on an island.

It also focuses on helping leaders understand that power and influence are two separate entities of leadership.

And that true success as a leader comes from the influence they spread amongst those critical to their own success.

Testimonial

“Jodi is an INCREDIBLE business coach. Admittedly, I did not think coaching was something I would be into, boy was I wrong. Jodi ran the Small Business grant program I was fortunate to be part of at Hamilton City Hall, and I thoroughly enjoyed her personality and teaching style. So signing up to work with her through Work Smart was an obvious choice for me. Jodi is honest and direct, yet kind and fun to talk to, she will not waste your time with fake platitudes.

I HIGHLY recommend her programs if you want to take your small business to the next level.”

My Commitment

I aim to create an inclusive space and approach my work with openness. My coaching style and course development is neurodiverse-friendly.
I seek to co-create safer spaces through collaboration and respect of the inherent dignity and diversity of all people.

“Jodi was a pleasure to work with. She was approachable & knowledgeable. I completed her Accountability Course for my business, and found each session a good combination of structured topics and tasks, paired with time for questions, discussion, and feedback.

I wouldn't hesitate to take any courses she offers in the future, and am even considering her one on one coaching services.”
